Thats nonsense to use the language of the enemy in the diaspora. And they not even do it for that reason, they do it just because they can speak Turkish and the organisation use Turkish. The Turks will get the message even if the protesters use Chinese, because every national Media translate the news to their own language, in Italy the media will translate that news to Italian and in Turkey to Turkish.

Thats a big problem, Kurds and Kurdish organisations from NK (not only PKK) use Turkish as their official language even in the diaspora, talks in the family or with friends, Media like TV, or slogans in demonstrations. But the worst think is that they teach their children to speak Turkish.

Piling wrote:And if Syria or Iran are behind it, will they demonstrate in Arabic or Persian ?

Exactly, they dont use persian, but we saw that BBC Persian make a report about that.

It would have been far better if they had shouted in French then bystanders would have known what was going on. Also they should have had leaflets written in French, I am not sure if they did.

If they have written 'France is the killer' as they shout in Erbil better to write only in Turkish then, I am not sure that Parisians would have appreciated :-D

hehe we could do something tricky, tell those anti-gay people that your protest is in this street ( the street that kurds are there ) that would add our number in pictures and videos
hehehehe

Someone from bashur would not understand why kurds from bakur would use turkish nor would they understand why kurds from rojhelat would also use persian during their demonstrations against the regime. It is wrong and I think we all can agree on that. They simply had much more over influence over the kurdish culture(by force and time) than the arabs had over the kurds in bashur. After all those years of force, opression, assimilation etc I still find it amazing that so many kurds in bakur still knows and uses their native tongue because of that opression made by the facsist turks is probably 5 times worse than the persian/azeri assimilation against kurds in rojhelat .I don't know about rojava.

I have watched kurdish weddings in Europe by kurds from rojhelat and bakur and I found a similar thing. After have listened to kurdish music and danced halparke to it, towards the end they put on turkish/persian music. The entire kurdish identity is gone and they start to dance what ever you call it to turkish/persian music. I belive this is very common when it comes to the younger kurdish generation. Maybe it's much more the latest thing by the younger kurds. Atleast that's what I saw in my cousins.
So to blame a organization for not FORCING it's people for not talking a specific language is a very very LOW excuse to view them as bad and unresponsible when they are not responsible for such a thing. It's true that PKK could try harder but to blame them for everything is very WRONG. It's not their responsibility but the persons family and is of course the regime's fault for putting the kurds in bakur and rojhelat into that position.

I would like to understand why those who view Öcalan as a prophet views him as such. So Kak Qonyeyi, can you please explain why?

Thank you very much. This is what i have been trying to say but people like to make ridiculous analogies like the one made by Pilling.

The demonstration should be to demonstrate your unity against such atrocities no matter who have done them. What the hell has the language to do with anything? We should be happy that there were speeches mainly in Kurdish ( Leyla Zana and the French Kurdish youth for instance) but speeches in French and Turkish also occured. This is a demonstration towards our enemies and likewise our own people. Everyone should be able to understand it. And unfortunately, not all Kurds know Kurdish. A lot of them only knows Turkish. It is an unfortunate situation. But to simplify it and break it down into what language should be used at demonstrations, that is a big low blow. The matter of linguistics and language considering Kurdish and why it is not used could room more than 100 PhDs, it could room more than a hundreds of documentaries, it could room more than a thousands of books. It can never be simplified as it contains the history of several nations and empires through out time. Simplifying it down as some users have done here is just a cheap shot at certain Kurdish parties and I can not understand how you guys can fall for it. Really. You guys are Kurds. You should understand the deep pscyhological games that have been played against Kurds, especially our language, as they have been played against most of us on these boards. At least, to some degree, most of us have been victims of psychological games played by our enemies and their collaborators.

To summarize; The matter of a lot of Kurds who are not able to speak their mother tongue can never be simplified into what kind of language some Kurdish political parties use at demonstration. The reasons why Kurds can and can not speak Kurdish have deep historical and psycological roots as we all know. Anyone who tries to simplify this matter is turning this into a silly political blame campaign ( even a very obvious one of the kinds).

PS: The ' Apo is a prophet' part was ironical. I am sorry I almost provoked a heart strike in some of you for writing those words.

Exactly, unnecessary analogies and stupid exsuses that is being used to blame a single organzation won't contribute anything good to our cause but instead it provoke's disunity. It isn't PKK's fault that kurds likes to watch turkish television or use the language. What party should we blame for allowing kurds in iran to watch persian tv or speaking persian when they're out?
The facsist regime of turkey and the chauvunist regime of iran is to blame and not those fighting for you for god sake.

Their are Turkish people in the UK who can't speak Turkish themselves, the language isn't banned or suppressed. Is it any wonder Kurds have a hard time knowing their mother tongue when it's been outlawed in every institution and social setting we come across from the moment we're born till death?
